Orlenas Hens Night

21 September 2007

On Friday night was Orlenas Hens Night. We went out for a really nice dinner (we shared the seafood platters) at Fermented Grape. They also had a $5.50 wine buffet (if you ordered a mail meal) which is the reason we went in the first place! Had a good night and since I wasn't drinking I went to drive home at midnight only to find that the carpark which I had left my car in (I didn't know what time it closed and I hadn't been planning on staying out that long!) has closed leaving me and my car stranded. Fortunately, mum had brought a car so she was able to come and pick me up!!

What a crooked back!!

At the Ekka me and mum purchased a consultation with a chiropractor as we had been told we were "out of alignment". The time came and we went and saw the chiropractor, he did various test things and some xrays.

The conclusion was that ...

I have a pretty crooked back! Which may be the reason I am so damm clumsy. My hips are out of alignment and I really should get something done before it gets worse. He said I had mild scoliosis.

See my xrays. If you draw a line across my hips and up my back you will see how crooked I am!!

I am not sure whether I am going to see a chiropractor or an osteopath, but really should get something done especially with the kind of work I do.

He also did this test where he could tell what part of your spine was having pressure put on it. Black isn't even on the scale so its pretty bad.

Last night in town

Friday 31 August 2007

On Friday night its was Darryl's last night on the Gold Coast before heading back to cold, raining, Tauranga, New Zealand to finish studying. He can't do it here because he needs to do it full time and has to do some practical stuff that needs to be assessed by a New Zealand assessor.

He had planned a special night out.

We started the night by having a yummy dinner at Moo Moo's steak restaurant. This place has mouthwatering steak.

We then went to the casino for what I thought was to do some gambling, so as i sat at the pokie machines winning up, Darryl disappeared with my winnings and not returning for some time with my coins and with me running out of coins I called him and found out that we were not in fact going gambling but to the casino show Zingara. The show was pretty good and my favourite part was when they brought out the "Globe of Death". This is where they have a big cage and motor bike riders got round the inside of it. I was quite excited as I had read Jason's Blog a couple of weeks ago about it. They started with two riders, and then three riders, and then four riders where everyone was like wow and THEN they brought out another rider!!! Five riders, I can't beleive they didn't crash into each other and then they split the globe in two and three riders rode in the top half and two in the second half. It was pretty amazing.
I had a great night out and thanks heaps Hun. Can't wait to see you again, whenever that might be, work hard!!!

BRISBANE

25 - 26 August 2007

This weekend we decided to head up to Brisbane and see what the big city offered as this was Darryl’s last weekend in Australia before he headed back to New Zealand to finish doing his studying which he can’t do here (sob sob).

The big city didn’t really have much to offer. We couldn’t go to bowling because it was too busy, we couldn’t find the main dining area and the casino was way too packed!!!!!! We did however get to dress up which is fun.

On Sunday we headed out to the markets and myself and Dustin got caricatures drawn of ourselves and then headed back to the coast. Brisbane isn’t really like the other big cities, in that there is not a lot of entertainment or excitement.
The Gold Coast is way better.

See the photo gallery for more pics.

Poker, Bingo and Pokies

22 August 2007

On Wednesday me and Darryl usually head out to the Southport Workers Club to play Bingo (yeah I know, boring out couple!). We usually have a pretty good run, where one of us usually wins something, except for the last couple of weeks, so instead decided to play the free Texas Hold Em Poker they have there and Dustin and Nic were going to join us. We found out that we couldn’t all sit at the same table so me and Nic decided to head into bingo and the boys played.

The boys had a good night playing the poker and it was free to bet “100’s and 1000’s of dollars”! We did alright in the bingo room with Nicola and me both winning a line prize and me winning a $20 voucher for the club.

So as we always do in the break, we headed to the “pokies room” (gambling addict anyone!) and tried our luck on the pokies. During the bingo break if you win over $1.00 on the pokies they give you a raffle for a chicken (we have won this a few times) so I was trying my luck and losing terribly. Nicola was doing ok, so as I was waiting for her she gave me a few more bucks of her winnings to put into the machine and so I did and I WON the major jackpot $298.00 woo hoo!!! I think I have a career in this gambling business!!

Ekka 2007

10 August 2007

On Saturday morning we got up bright and early to catch the train to Brisbane for Ekka 2007. The Ekka is the big Brisbane show. It goes for 10 days. We spent a bit of time going around the exhibits and a lot of time in the “taste testing tent”. I got a free spine examination and found out that my spine is “extremely” out of whack and may be the reason I am so damm clumsy! I brought a spinal assessment for $45.00 (normally $250.00) and get it checked out tomorrow.

In the afternoon, we decided to head over to the “fun” side. We didn’t end up going on any rides as they were quite expensive and we are taking my sister (who is moving back to the GC on 3 September) to Dreamworld in a couple of weeks. We did however try our luck on the side shows and it payed off. I WON!!! I played a game that I thought would get me a giant carebear if I won unfortunately they were all out so I received a giant dog. These toys must have been 1 metre high. Who can say that have ever won soft toy that big on side shows before. I still really wanted a carebear and was somewhat disappointed with my dog and then Darryl and my sister walked up to this random person with a purple carebear and asked to swap. He said yes and so I got my carebear. My sister thought that she would also try her luck on another game and she won also, taking home a giant pink unicorn thingee.

It was a pretty good day and am stoked with my giant carebear and i think someone got tuckered out! ;)

My last couple of weeks

Hey Everyone

Sorry I haven't updated my site in a while, that is because nothing overally exciting has been happening lately, but incase you care about the mundane parts of my life I have given a summary of what I have been doing:

- Went to Wet 'n' Wild - Bloody Freezing!!! - they had nice warm spa's though (think pretty much the only "hot" pools on the gold coast)

- Hung out with Dustin and Nic and played poker and singstar, they also let us spend a room in their resort and had a bubble bath spa!

- Had to fork out another $140.00 on my car as the exhaust pipe (the actual long thing on your exhaust) feel off and it sounded like a truck

- Started playing netball again after over a year, goes well for about the first half and then ankle gets sore because concrete is too hard, hoping that this problem will stop soon :p

- Went to casino on Friday night and won $185.00 on craps table, woo hoo, hoping to repeat winnings this Friday night as rent has increased

- Watched The Simpsons movie, wasn't my kinda thing and I personally didn't find it that funny, but Darryl and Sara cracked up.

- Read the new Harry Potter book. It was great!!! Except thought the ending was dumb. What did you think?

- Did a new quiz on Bebo
Toni’s Bebo - go and do it!!

- Joined Face Book - apparently this is the new big thing, I don’t really like it as its quite confusing, but I have my own aquarium

- My sister moves back to the Gold Coast on 3 September

- New Singstar 90’s is coming out

And that’s pretty much a summary of the highlights of my life to date

Exciting events that might happen and could be interesting

- Going to Ekka 2007 on Saturday

- Going to Brisbane for a dress up flash weekend and gambling

Until those events materialise, drop me a line and let me know what you are doing or at least let me know if you still read my blog!

14 - 15 July 2007

This weekend we teamed up with Dustin and Nicola and headed up to Caloundra in the Sunshine Coast. On the way up we stopped in at the Ettamogah Pub for a bit of fun at Aussie World and to take our own picture of the most photographed pub in the world. Aussie World was a bit disappointing as the rides were pretty average but had a great time playing mini golf.

After that we headed onto Caloundra and checked into the “Rydges”. The apartment was a little below the standard you would expect from Rydges but for half price we couldn’t really complain. We spend the night watching rugby and playing poker (with chips) in which the girls played those boys under the table and were left begging for some more chips from their ladies!! In between the poker we headed out to dinner and then for a dip in the spa. The thing with spas on the Gold Coast is that they think they don’t need to turn the heat up. The spa was freezing so to make it feel warmer its was someones idea to jump into the pool and then back into the spa. As we had all been drinking this seemed like a good idea. The pool was FREEZING but it did do the job and the only person who thought the spa was cold then was the woose who didn’t jump into the pool, Darryl!!

On Sunday we had a spa bath in the room, this was actually warm and then headed back to the coast for a nap.

Good weekend had by all.

Mums Birthday Weekend

6 - 8 July 2007

This weekend was mum's birthday so we decided to take her out to Dracula's to watch their new Fangs & Fetish show.

The show was good, but having seen the previous two don't think it was quite as good as the previous ones. Had a good night and got a cocktail the size of my head.

As Sunday was mum's official birthday day, we decided to take her tenpin bowling as she had never been before. So myself, Darryl, Sara and Mum headed out to play. After a few tips on how to hold the ball and bowl it down the alley we were on our way.

I was doing alright, not getting many gutters balls and even a few spares, in my opinion thats good, but compared to the "closet" bowlers I had with me, it was not so good!

Darryl came first (he owns a bowling ball, so we pretty much knew he should win)

Followed by mother (who had never bowled before)

then Sara "queen of strikes" she was good at getting them but no so good as using them well for points

followed in the rear by me!!!!!!

I was less than impressed (but don't tell anyone, I let mum win it was her birthday after all ;) )

Byron Bay

30 June 2007 - 1 July 2007

This weekend we decided that we should do some more exploring and headed down to Byron Bay as I had been told it was a nice spot and its only about an hour from the gold coast.

We made it up there with no car troubles!! Woo hoo and checked into our cute B & B with a spa bath in our room. They are on level 1 water restrictions in New South Wales so didn't feel guilty about filling up the bath and having a relaxing spa.

We then headed back up the main street. Byron Bay kind of reminds me like Raglan or Wainui, a laid back hippi beach town with botique little shops that contained many rainbow and tie dyed things. Everyone seemed to have a relaxed outlook on life ... if you know what mean :)

On Sunday we headed to the markets for a look around and then headed to the icon of Byron Bay, the lighthouse. It was a nice view from the top and sometimes, if the time is right, you can see whales passing. Unfortunatley we didn't see any whales, but I did find out that the piece of land by the lighthouse is the most easternly point of the Australian mainland.

Partying like I'm 21!

On Saturday night, was my old work mates Laura's 21st Birthday.

So we got all dressed up and after a few vodkas at home, headed down to the Rowers Club to participate in the celebrations.

The night started all right with a few champaynes and us having a great time being "21" again. And then it turned oh soooooooooooooo bad. I am not usually a champayne drinker and I think I am going to stick to that policy in the future.

I will only go as far as to say that I am glad that Darryl had cleaned the bathroom because me and Mr Toilet got quite friendly. I probably haven't been that sick since before I turned 21!!!!!

Here are some pictures before me and Mr Toilet became BFF's!!!!!

Queens Birthday Weekend 9 – 11 June 2007

Friday
As we were going away for the long weekend to Coffs Harbour and I hadn’t been busy at work I decided to take the Friday off and do some thing I needed to do before we went away for the long weekend.

Who was I kidding!!! I did nothing that I wanted to do.

My day started with taking our kittens out to the vet to get the chop, then I had to drop of Darryl’s tyre to a tyre shop to get fixed. Whilst there I decided it might be a good idea to get him to have a look at my tyres before the big trip (4.5 hours). He recommended that I get two new tyres. All right I say and can you have a look at my breaks whilst you are under there. Two tyres, two break pads, two other break thingees, some beltie thing, 4 hours and $370 later my car was ready and my day off almost over. I had time to rewatch Shrek 2 before heading off to Shrek 3 that night.

Mini Shrek 3 review
Um, undecided what to say about this one.
It was good, but not as good as the first ones I don’t reckon.
I would give it 2.5 out of 5

Saturday
On Saturday we headed off in my car around 11.30 it should take us around 40 minutes to get to Tweed, in traffic it took about 1.5 hrs and then my car started shuddering! We kept going for a week bit, had a look and it looked ok, kept going and then it stopped on a hill. Lucky we were able to pull over, but I had no idea where abouts we were. Luckily!!!! I got RACQ (AA) about three weeks before because my car wouldn’t start at all. The man came and said you might need this but im not sure you need to get it towed and because we were in NSW had to get it towed to Tweed. All I could see were more $$$$$ coming out of my bank account to fix my car (that was working fine on Thursday) straight after it had come out of the shop.

I convinced mum to battle the traffic to bring Darryl’s car over and go back on the bus to allow us to carry on with our journey.

Yah, we made it to Coff’s Harbour without anymore dramas and went to Darryl’s parents, friends, sons 21st.

Sunday
On Sunday we went for breakfast at the clog barn and I saw how clogs were made then we drove around Coffs, saw some markets, had lunch with Darryl’s parents and then we all went go karting. This was real fun. We got to go around the track about 11 times and had to hold on hard because they vibrated so much. I didn’t come off the track and managed to overtake a few people even though I started last as the man forgot about me.

Monday
On Monday before we left, we headed to the Big Banana. Australians are fascinated with "
Big Things"

We went on the Toboggan Ride and went ice skating and then headed home. Not before stopping in Ballina to see the “Big Prawn”.

All and all after the dramas on Saturday morning and $120.00!! more dollars on Tuesday it was a good weekend.

Funny email

This is a funny email I got today so had to share
I think we've all been here....

When you have to visit a public loo there is invariably a line of women,
You smile politely and take your place, it finally gets to your
turn, you check for feet under the cubicle doors. Every one is
occupied.....but eventually a door opens and you dash in, nearly
knocking down the woman leaving the cubicle.

You get in to find the door won't latch. It doesn't matter, the wait has
been so long you are about to wet your knickers!!! The
dispenser for the modern "seat covers" is handy, but empty. You would
hang your handbag on a door hook, if there was one, but
there isn't - so you carefully, but quickly drape it around your neck,
yank down your knickers, and assume " The Position."

In this position your aging, toneless thigh muscles begin to shake.
You'd love to sit down, but you certainly hadn't taken time to wipe
the seat or lay toilet paper on it, so you hold "The Position."

To take your mind off your trembling thighs for a moment when you reach
For horror or horrors an empty toilet paper dispenser.
Your thighs start to shake more. You remember the tiny tissue that you
Blew your nose on yesterday - the one that's still in your
handbag which is now burning your neck & shoulders with the weight. So
you contort your arm into a very unnatural position and
start to fumble around in the deep dark depths of your handbag for that
small crumpled 'used' tissue no bigger than your thumbnail.

Someone pushes your door and because the latch doesn't work it hits your
head which is bent over from holding the hanging
handbag, and you start to topple backward. "Occupied!" you scream, as
you reach for the door and drop the precious, tiny,
crumpled tissue you had only just retrieved with your index finger into
an unknown puddle on the floor.......if that isn't enough
you lose your balance altogether and gravity pulls you down ......down
..... directly onto the TOILET SEAT. It is wet, of course, you
bolt up, knowing all too well that it's too late.

Your bare bottom has made contact with every imaginable germ & life form
that lives on the uncovered seat. By this time, the
automatic sensor on the back of the toilet is so confused that it
flushes, propelling a stream of water like a fire hose into the bowl
which sprays a fine mist of water that covers your bum and runs down
your legs along with the various life forms and down into your dishevelled
knickers which have now dropped down to your ankles. The flush somehow
sucks everything down with such force that you grab onto the empty toilet
paper dispenser for fear of being dragged in too.

At this point, you give up. You're soaked by the spewing water and the
Wet toilet seat. You're exhausted. You try to wipe yourself
with a piece of gum wrapper you found in your pocket and then slink out
inconspicuously to the sinks. You can't figure out how to
operate the taps [new obviously from bath-store.com/martha's whatever],
so you run your hands underneath it grateful for the 2
drops there, then around the basin itself. You go to the towel dispenser
past the line of women still waiting, where of course there
are no paper towels so you move over to the hand blower, which, yes
you've guessed it, also doesn't work.

You are no longer able to smile politely to the women, but there is an
unspoken understanding between you all. A kind soul at the
very end of the line points out that you have a piece of toilet paper
trailing from your shoe. (Where was that when you NEEDED
it??) You yank the paper from your shoe, plonk it in the woman's hand
and tell her warmly, "Here, you just might need this."

As you exit, you spot your hubby, who has long since entered, used, and
Left the Men's. Annoyed, he asks, "What took you so
long, and why is your handbag hanging around your neck?"

This is dedicated to women everywhere who deal with public loo's. It
Also finally explains to the men what really does take us so long
and also answers their other commonly asked question about why women go
to the loo in pairs. It's so the other one can hold the
door, hang onto your purse and hand you Kleenex under the door!

SOLUTION ACCORDING TO LESLIE:

Ladies if you are good looking please free to use the Gents as there will always be a helping hand.

Bored at work

My boss has been away and I have become somewhat totally bored and unmotivated at work (just enjoying the peace before it gets busy again) and totally addicted to Bebo.
This site is like a website but you can add pictures, friends, comments, blogs and quizzes and stuff. Its good for catching up with old school friends and things.
As work is boring this site has become very entertaining doing everyone's quizzes and catching up with old school friends.
So if you are bored or have a minute check it out, do my quizzes, leave me a message or picture and start your own.
