6 -7 September 2008

London, England to Paris, France
6 September 2008

Today was the first day of my 26 day top deck adventure around Europe. I headed off from Tooting and made the journey to Acton for our 7.00am meeting. We all got together and then hoped onto the bus to head down to Dover. Once in Dover we got our passport stamped before heading on the ferry to take us to Calais in France. Once we got off the ferry we meet our bus driver, Foggy (Floggy) and headed off to Paris.

In Paris we got upgraded to a "hotel" for the night and after our unusual dinner we headed off in the bus for our night driving tour of Paris. Our first stop was at, I can't remember name, where we jumped out of the bus and headed up the hill for a closer look and a night time view of Paris. We drove past the Moulin Rouge, squeezed our bus through a tight arch (around the Louvre) and headed into the chaos known as the Arc de Triomphe where its free for all and theres an accident every eight minutes (so I am told). -The Arc de Triomphe is a monument in Paris, France that stands in the centre of the Place Charles de Gaulle, also known as the Place de l'Étoile.[1] It is at the western end of the Champs-Élysées. The triumphal arch honors those who fought for France, particularly during the Napoleonic Wars. On the inside and the top of the arc there are all of the names of generals and wars fought. Underneath is the tomb of the unknown soldier from World War I. - After our little adventure on the Arc we stopped off at the Eiffel Tower. It looked amazing all lit up with blue and blue sparkling lights.

Today we ventured out on our own in Paris. First stop was Louvre and because it was the first Sunday of the month it was free, bonus! We walked around for a bit, but since we aren't really art lovers only stopped off at a few stops and of course the Mona Lisa is a must. Me and Katie battled the crowds to get a good picture of the popular lady!

After the Louve we headed to Notre Dame for a quick look around before Topdeck's famous champagne picnic where I tried SNAILS check out my moment by moment account of my experience in the photo gallery on facebook as I haven't updated it on my normal photo gallery yet!

After the picnic and a few bottles of bubbly we headed to a french cabaret show where the ladies danced with their boobies out and Katie, Katied the bus toilet!
