I hope everyone appreciates reading my blog because today I have come into work 45 minutes early just to update . As work is soo busy at the moment haven't had time to do it.

Sydney - Day 1 - 13 May 2006

Having selected an early flight to Sydney myself and Debra were up and about at 4am waiting for the transfer man to come and pick us and take us away on our adventure. Arriving at Pam's house at 8.30 in the morning we lugged our, lets just say Heavy, suitcases up one and a half flights of stairs and managed to wake them all up and I think some of the neighbours!

Once everyone was awake and showered Pam, Kev, Debra and Myself headed down to Circular Quay for some snaps with the standard tourist spots.

That night we headed for the rugby and cheered on the Hurricanes with a bunch of kiwis and triumphed in the end with a win!

Day 2 - 14 May 2006

Today Hayley took us on an adventure to Bondi Junction and Bondi markets. We read in a Sydney tourist book that some times stars can go down to the markets and we were keeping our eyes pealed. Unfortunately we didn't see anyone but we did however find a shop that selled orange chocolate chip ice land and went down to the beach to eat it.

Day 3 and 4 - 15 -16 May

Today me and Debra headed to the Blue Mountains.

Unfortunately the weather wasn't the best and we had to walk around most of the days in our blue poncho's. This is me in my blue poncho and this is the view that we saw!

Apparently there are waterfalls behind me.

Now we thought that we would take a leisurely stroll of ten minutes to see the Cascades instead it ended up to be about an hour walk in the wet, cold and miserable weather through the bush on paths that we muddy and down metal steps. I can tell you we were both pretty happy when we made it to Scenic World and took the steepest railway in the world back up to the top!

As we couldn't really see much at scenic world, what else was there to do but go to the chocolate shop where we enjoyed a real hot chocolate and may have brought a few fancy chocolates!!

The next day we thought we would try our luck back up at scenic world. Unfortunately is was still foggy and we went on the scenic skyway

Deciding we had been beaten by the fog, we decided not to go to see the three sisters rock formation and decided on horse riding instead, Debra was a little reluctant, but we had a great time and could harldy walk the next day.

Day 5 - Wednesday 17 May

Today was sent shopping in Paramatta Westfield and had lunch with Pam. Westfield didn't really do it for me and I came away with only a new pair of boots.

That night we went out for a yummy dinner at 5o's where meals are $5.00 what a bargain!

Day 6 - Thursday 18 May

Today was the day I was most excited about, going to Palm Beach where they film Home and Away. After 2 hours in the bus and one stop to far we finally made it to the "Surf Club"



Unfortunately after hanging around for a couple of hours we never saw any stars or anyone filming :(


Day 7 - Friday 19 May

Friday was spent lazing around the house recovering from the last couple of action packed days. Friday night we went to luna park for unlimited rides. Unfortunately for us, neither of us could stomach many of them and came out feeling a tad sick. I can spend a home day a dream world but a couple of rides at luna park and I was done.




Day 8 - Saturday 20 May

On Wednesday night Kevin suggested that we had a shop-a-thon and what girl can resist this temptation! So on Saturday us four girls let our legs do the walking, credit cards do the talking and off we went. After getting a little lost on the way to the Sketchers outlet shop we eventually made it out of there were four pairs of fantastic shoes. After Sketchers we proceeded to an outlet mall somewhere, where the shopping continued.

That night we had some cocktails at home and then headed into town to go to the Ice Bar. We had a fantastic time in there and had a over excited employee taking heaps of snaps. It was heaps and I recommend it. They have one in Auckland.

Day 9 – Sunday 21 May

Home Time

Today we got up late and had brunch down in Coogee and then sat at home and watched a movie. A great way to spend a Sunday after an exhausting wee!

Hey Everyone

Just wanted to let you know I have been back from Sydney for a week now and have been SOOOO busy at work that haven't had time to update my site. Here is a picture to keep you satisfied for the moment.

The longest week ever…

Finally, this week is almost over. You know when you are really looking forward to something but it seems to take forever to get here. Well Friday is almost over and at 4.05am tomorrow morning I would have started my journey to Sydney and won’t have to think about work and all the dramas that go with it.

Besides from wishing this week would be over, I have borrowed from a girl at work all of the five seasons from Dawsons Creek. So have been putting in the hours watching that over the past week, but other than that haven’t really done much.

I will be in Sydney from 13 – 21 May so probably won’t be checking emails or updating my site.

Have a good weekend and will have plenty of picks to show when I get back.

I can’t believe its May already.

Today we have officially been here 8 months and the time has just flown buy. I can still remember going to the airport that foggy morning and saying goodbye to everyone to embark on our journey to Australia. Anyways, that’s enough of the reminiscing and lets talk about my impending trip to Sydney. This is the hot topic at home at the moment and as everyone knows (especially me!) when you are waiting excitedly for something to happen it takes twice as long! At the moment we are discussing what exciting things we are going to do and see. We are planning on going up to the blue mountains and staying a night at the Blue Mountains , going to Palm Beach (I have emailed the information centre so they can hopefully give me some info on when best to go down to see the filming of home and away), the sketchers outlet shop (as Debra reminded me the other day that now I don’t have people towering over me anymore I can now wear flat shoes), Luna Park, Opera House and Bridge, Glassons (yah, Sydney is one of the cities that have one). Oh and looked on the Sydney Casino website and they have craps!

Anyone coming over

Just wondering if anyone is coming from New Zealand to the Gold Coast and/or anywhere in Australia in the next wee while. The reason being is that I am buying a laptop from my friend in New Zealand and want to bring it over to Australia without having to post it if I can. So if you are drop me a line and let me know.

Anzac Day

Yesterday was Anzac Day and although I didn't manage to get up for the parades I watch the parades on the news and some of an Anzac Day movie.

What I found really strange and what brought me back to the fact that I am not in New Zealand anymore is that in Australia they don't wear poppies on Anzac Day. I have been told that later on in the year they celebrate a day called Rememberance Day and that is when they have the poppies.

Weekend

Over the weekend Nicky (Challies) came to stay for a few days. It was nice to catch up and spend some time with a fellow kiwi living in Australia. On Saturday we hung out at the beaach and on Sunday we went to Wet 'n' Wild to check out the new slides. Why is it that every time we go (ok twice) the days haven’t been that warm and we stand around with goosebumps. The new black whole ride was awesome and really scary. Imagine you are going down a slide in the pitch black and that’s the black whole. What is really annoying about some of the rides though is that you need at least two riders! So don’t go to Wet ‘n’ Wild by yourself you can’t go on half of them.

Too much chocolate

I never thought I would hear myself saying this but I have eaten way too much chocolate. I think I ate at least one egg/bunny each day of Easter!! What a pig!!

Other than eating over easter me and Debra decided that after two lovely summer days on Friday and Saturday that we missed out on, we would go to the beach on Sunday. Our day was ruined by the fact that of course Sunday was a crappy overcast day. So instead we went to the movies and saw Scary Movie 4. Now we weren’t expecting a whole lot from this movie but expected it a least to be funny. Well in Debra’s words “It's like they stopped trying”. The movie was crap and wasn’t even that funny and only lasted for 1 ½ hours. My rating for this movie would be 1/5 it can wait to VHS!!!

After waiting for two months I finally got my skates yesterday, yah. I tried them out last night and within five minutes of stepping on the ice I fell over and scrapped my elbow and hands. The thing about our skates is that they have toe picks where as rental ones don’t really and they are the cause for falling over. I managed to stay up for the rest of the lesson and left them to get sharpened so I will be a pro next week.

Airfares are on sale at the moment, so we decided that it was about time to cross the border and go and visit Pam and now Hayley in Sydney. I have got a week off work and we go on 13 May. Am so excited, we are going to see where Home and Away is filmed and hopefully, if we go during the week, see some of the cast members or some filming, go to Luna Park, see the Harbour Bridge and Opera House and any other exciting things that are recommened.

Anyways have got heaps of work to do because we had someone leave and someone is on holiday.

A good week

I knew this week was always going to be a good week. Its contains my birthday, easter and most importantly a four day week at work! I also found out yesterday that for the next four weeks we have four day weeks!! Woo Hoo.

I had a really good birthday on Monday and ate way too much Pizza and Pavlova for lunch, followed by Mac and Cheese for dinner. Its not wonder I could hardly move at netball on Monday night and that we got slaughtered. The score is way to embarrassing to share.

On Tuesday I found out that finally my skates were in Australia and that I should be getting them on Tuesday, just in time for next weeks lesson! Yah!! I was struggling with the rentals and will be way better with my own skates ;).

Last night me and Debra went to the movies and watched a movie about a great kiwi, The World's Fastest Indian. What a fantastic movie and no kiwi movie is every complete without at least two ex Shortland Street actors! I would give it 4.5/5. Some parts of it I was in fits of laughter and the best thing about the movie was that when sad things happened you knew that he did it so you didn't worry. One thing I will say about Burt Munro is that he is good with the ladies!!

Today one of the girls from work its leaving so the boss is paying for us to go out for dinner and drinks. So that will be heaps of fun and about all I have planned for easter at this stage.

I have decided to do a link from my website to the Home and Away recap part of the site so I don't have to keep cutting and pasting. I will tell you something about this weeks Home and Away and that is Amanda may in fact be Belle's mother!!!!!

It’s a week since my last post which means

ITS MY BIRTHDAY TODAY

Happy Birthday to me!!!!

I wish I were that excited about turning 23, but it just sounds so old and then there is that song “no body loves you when your 23, what’s my age again” – or something like that anyway. But I do feel a little better thinking that I am the youngest out of all my friends and they have already turned 23 or are well past it and have survived!

I have had a pretty good day so far, except for going to work, although it’s not that bad, but have heaps of presents and cards from work and am having pizza and Pavlova for lunch. YUM!

Since the last update

Haven’t really done much since my last update as I have had the flu and had two days off work sick. I did manage to go out on Saturday night with a girl from work and had a really good night until I almost lost my voice in town and woke up on Sunday morning with a really sore throat and a hacking cough. Stupid country still allowing people to smoke in bars. So now I feel like I am back to square one with stuffed out sinuses and a cough that hurts my chest.

Any way since that is all I have to report I will go back to work and being sick.

Home and Away

Josh is dead. The killer retrieves Morag’s confidential file.

With boos from the crowd of protesters, Amanda is about to cut the ribbon to launch the construction of Project 56. Morag races up with a letter in her hand. She has proof that Josh is linked to Tiverson, so Project 56 is illegal!

At the same time, Jack receives a phone call…Josh West is dead!

Jack and Peter question Morag, then call in Ric, who stumbles in his interrogation. Peter is alerted that Amanda will now get Tiverson shares worth four million dollars – so she’s under suspicion big time! Amanda flees the Bay.

It seems Ric and Cassie’s relationship is over!

More residents of the Bay become suspects. Dan is pulled in for questioning. Martha’s questioned, while Ric hides his guilt over the magazine cut-out letter to Josh.

Amanda is stopped from fleeing the country by Peter and Jack and taken in for questioning. Evidence turns up to prove she is innocent. But the killer is still out there!

Belle is the one who framed Amanda by putting the magazines in her bin. When Ric sees Martha is under suspicion, he announces he’s responsible for the death threat!

Rachel and Kim are in love. She plans a romantic dinner for two, Kim stays over. In the morning, Hyde knocks on the door – their secret is out. Hyde spits his dummy. Kim tell his father Rachel is the one for him – if his father can’t accept that, well, his father’s out of his life.

Hyde calls on Rachel to apologise. His concern has only been that Kim could be hurt again – and there’s an age difference! Hyde invites Kim and Rachel to join him for a drink.

Tasha and Robbie announce they are having a baby to Robbie's family. Everyone’s elated, but Tasha aches for Robbie having to put on a brave front.

Home and Away Update

Have had a specific request for a Home and Away update so here you are

Helpmann continues to bully and harass poor Rachel – and Kim wants to kill the guy!

Beth and Irene throw an engagement party for Tasha and Robbie, but it turns into a wedding party! Robbie’s secretly arranged it all – Tasha arrives in a boat, looking ravishing and a celebrant is there to perform the ceremony. Rose petals shower the happy couple.

Belle is causing trouble: she’s a terrible flirt…who will she go for next?

After fainting at the wedding party, Tasha is pregnant! It seems Jonah’s the father. Robbie heads off to the jail to confront Jonah and learns from Charity that Josh West paid off people in ‘high places’ to protect The Believers. So he’s responsible for Tasha’s predicament!

Rachel decides she can’t live without Kim. She’ll go to the Board and report Helpman’s harassment and hostility to her. Despite having saved the life of Helpman’s son from drowning, he is still out to get revenge on Rachel.
Rachel is suspended for breach of conduct for being with a patient.

Robbie and Tasha have some tortuous moments – Tasha doesn’t know if she can go through with the pregnancy. Robbie promises to be by her side, whether she has the baby or not. Tasha has decided to keep the baby.

Josh gets some hate mail: ‘You are dead! Is this from Amanda?

Sally finds the tickets she’d bought for Flynn to go to Italy. She puts the spare ticket into the a order book which she thinks is Leah's. Colleen comes in beaming about the trip…she’d love to go!

Irene invites Belle to stay long term and tells her she’s helped lots of kids out in times of need. Belle shows Irene the photo of the woman she is looking for: her real mum.

Josh makes a subtle threat to Amanda about Ryan. Later that day a brick flies through the window, dangerously close to Ryan. Amanda is rattled. When a car almost swipes Amanda and Ryan off the road, Amanda decides to get protection: she buys a gun.

After Josh’s heavies threaten her, Amanda marches into Josh’s office armed with a gun and tells him never to mess with her again! Josh undermines her bravado and she drops the gun.

Sally, Colleen and baby Pippa head to Italy!!

Amanda tells Beth she wants out of Project 56, but there’s no way out.

As Josh looks over his stolen files, there’s a knock at the door. The dead body of Josh West is left lying on the floor.

The Ball

Pam, Debra and Myself decided to get dressed up and head to the D & D Ball at Dreamworld. http://www.dandball.com.au/. It was a good excuse to get dressed up and pampered. So at 2.30 we headed down to the hairdressers and after two hours and two glasses of champagne each our hair was ready to go and we all looked stunning.


The ball was pretty average and not what we expected. There were thousands of people there and the lines to get drinks and toilets were a nightmare. The Rogue Traders were cool, Natalie is my friend, ok well I kind of saw the back of her first she kind of looked my way and I bet she smiled but they didn’t play for long.

We then proceeded to a club in Surfers and then the usual hunt for a pie at about 3.00am.

We were glad to get home at 4am and rest our feet, cause you try walking around Dreamworld in high heels.

Overall the night was alright and it was good to catch up with Pam.

Aussie Slang

Debra, Pam and myself were introduced to some new aussie slang this weekend. Such words included Franger, too easy, pingers and dead horse.

Franger – the Aussie term of this amused us somewhat. We were belting this word out like no one was listening and was reminded on more than one occasion by Pam that although we think this word is funny and we don’t know what it is, the rest of Australia does in fact and know when ones says Franger they are actually talking about a condom!

Too Easy – means cool or good.

Dead Horse – this is an odd one but dead horse actually means tomato sauce.

I tested these words out with the girls at work and in fact the meanings we were told were correct. One of the girls referred me to the Aussie slang website where I had a blast finding more Aussie slang and sayings.

Some of my favourites are

flat out like a lizard drinking
- extremely busy and under pressure from work.

a bit more choke and you would have started

- a statement said to somebody who has just passed wind in public rather loudly.

a few Kangaroos loose in the top paddock
- someone who is mentally 'not quite there, also picnic short of a sandwich , lights are on but nobody is home, etc.

ridgie didge

- genuine, the real thing.

fed up to the back teeth

- use to signify someone is disgusted and/or has lost patience with someone/something/a situation.

Home and Away update

Well, can't really be bothered remembering and typing about Home and Away so found this summary on the Home and Away website

What Happened from March 6 to March 10 (Episodes 4136-4140)
Robbie is the one who switched off Grahame’s life support! The Hunter family is under suspicion and all are interrogated at the station by Jack and Peter

Beth is devastated to think that Tony would suspect her of turning off the life support. The stress on the family is intolerable. Matilda is comforted by Lucas as Robbie watches on, feeling so bad.

The ‘grieving’ widow Amanda is dressed for the funeral and has prepared for the wake to be held in her apartment. At the graveside, Robbie is haunted by the thought of what he has done. Can he forgive himself?

Beth’s wake for her father is interrupted by Amanda appearing, carrying a picture of Graham. All show their contempt for Amanda and she is promptly thrown out of the house by Beth.
Tony and Beth have a heart to heart and Beth admits to Tony she did have the thought about turning off the life support, but couldn’t bring herself to do it. Tony comforts her as she sobs in his arms.

The Hunter family is outraged at the reading of Graham’s will. Amanda has done something tricky again!.

Tasha finds Robbie on the beach, overcome with grief, guilt and anger. Now Amanda has all of grandpa’s money anyway! Later Robbie meets Josh and accuses him of being behind it all.
Tony appeals to Amanda to understand how Beth feels at the loss of her father and the meaning of Graham’s war medals to her. She relents and has the medals sent to Beth in an unmarked package.

Leah and Dan acknowledge the breakdown of their marriage. Leah tells Irene there have been so many issues : the gambling, Dan’s lies, her feelings for Peter and the death of the baby.
Jack catches out Peter when he finds him lying again. Now he is even more suspicious…
When Dr Helpman moves in on Rachel again, she is adamant she’s not interested and tells him to stop. Later that day Rachel learns she didn’t get a good recommendation from Dr Helpman. The award has gone to someone else…

Colleen puts her foot in it again when she mentions Dan’s gambling problems were the cause of their marriage break up.

Kim is furious when Rachel tells him about Dr Helpman and the bad assessment he gave her. He urges her to report him to the hospital CEO. She is reluctant, fearing it will make matters worse. Rachel gives Kim a hug before they part. Hyde confronts Kim and reminds him that Rachel’s career is at stake…

When Jack investigates for himself what Peter is up to, he’s knocked out cold and Peter is seen holding an iron bar in his hand…

The weekend

Sorry haven’t written an update in a while work is so busy at the moment, but have taken a few minutes out to write my update.

Friday at work was a total write off, one of the other girls at work (there are only six of us) got engaged as well, so she spent all Friday so hypo she managed to distract us all and I found gummy bears strategically placed around my room. I managed to get the most urgent things done and then as soon as five rolled around had a drink in my hand for Friday night drinks. After drinks at work Kevin and Tobi came around and we kept drinking. At about 3.00am I got to bed only to wake up at 7.00am as I had to clean my room, as Nicky was coming to stay for a night before going to Yamba, pack my gear and then head to the hairdressers at 10am. I got a cut, shampoo, blow dry and straighten all for $45.00 and had nice straight hair for the engagement party. I love having straight hair as it’s easy to manage but the pain that you go through!

At 1.20 Orlena came to pick me up and we started on our merry way to the Sunshine Coast after two and a half hours we made it up there (am sure Orlena was glad after me chewing her ear off the hole ride). I also got a free drink, from a Maori lady at a café because didn’t have enough for both drinks I wanted and had my NZ t-shirt on, 1 for the kiwi!! Our boss had paid for our accommodation and we proceeded to go and check it out with our bottles of booze. The room was really nice it was a motel with a mini bar and shampoo and stuff. It was really nice.

At 6.30 we were all dressed up and ready to go, I wore a dress I didn’t take any pictures but will see what I can get from Sian. The party was good, most of the girls were wearing dresses and the food and cake was fantastic. At about 10.30 the other girls wanted to go so Laura, her boyfriend Adam, and myself took Adams car into town and went back to the motel to wait for the other girls who were getting a taxi. They turned up 40 minutes later and decided to nana out, they were the ones who wanted to leave!! We didn’t let this damper our sprits and endeavored to find a place to dance, we found this little club and had a drink and asked around for somewhere to go. Struck up a conversation with some guy for New Zealand (a lady at work reckons I can sniff them out) and were told they was this nice little club down the road. We went down there and it was really cool, Laura and me danced like no one was watching and had a really good night until that was I realised that Laura had been gone for a while, I did the walk around the club but couldn’t find her and decided to keep dancing I then thought, hmmmm where had she gone I had no money, no phone and no key to the room. I then thought oh she had gone (later found out that she got kicked out by the bouncer for being too intoxicated) and proceeded to find my way back to the motel. Lucky I am a smart cookie and I managed to find it alright. I then realised that I couldn’t get in without the key I managed to call reception but they told me to call my room, I then tried but couldn’t work it out, so I decided hmm, that security gate doesn’t look that high (it was about 2 meters, I was in heels and there were fountains). I decided I couldn’t scale the fence but the pillar I could climb onto and then lower myself down and that I did. It would have been funny thought this drunken chick in dress and high heels scaling so fence, also good security!!

I then proceeded to the room and saw that the balcony doors were open, I didn’t even think to knock on the door but decided that I should scale another wall (only about 1.5 metres this time). I couldn’t get my legs over so ended up got hand first onto the ground, I managed to be so quiet didn’t wake the person sleeping in the lounge room. I then went into the room and told Orlena all about my experiences got changed and then tried to go to sleep. You don’t realize how much you have drunk until you lie down and the room is spinning, after a quick visit to the toilet I managed to squash in another 5 hours sleeps, which brought my total for the weekend to around 10 and woke up on Sunday morning bright as ever but bruises to complement my adventure. After a nice soak in the bath, ahhhh haven’t had one of them in a while, we headed back to the gold coast with me trying to sleep on the way.

Had a really good weekend and hope next is just as good, if anything, a little less eventful.

Its raining, its pouring

For the last week it has been pretty much raining non-stop and it is cold. I have had to put on more blankets and even socks! I did however, get a nice pair from my sister for christmas which I can now say I have a use for. Where has the nice Gold Coast weather gone, it kind of reminds me of home though. But means I can't walk to work and have to get rides all the time which is annoying.

This week has basically been spent with netball, work and french lessons. Our french tutor said that we are getting really good and are even sounding french now. It is also becoming easier as we are starting to recognise words and sounds and how to write them.

Tasha

Tasha and Jonah were lead down to the river by the beleivers for the purification ceremony. But Tasha started quoting the number tatttoed on her foot and saying they should listen to her because she is the chosen one. But then the police turned up and saved them although Mumma Rose got a away. What do the numbers mean? Is Tasha pregnant? What will happen between her and Robbie now?

Dan and Leah

Leah and Dan were having a fight about Leah kissing Peter. Leah collapsed on the floor and was rushed to hospital were she disagnosed with phenoniminal. They went to do an ultra sound to check out the baby and it died about a week ago. Leah and Dan are really upset at the moment. Will their marraige surive?

Peter has been acting weird since he has been back in bay, taking pictures of Leah and we saw him with files for most of the summer bay residents. Jack overhead him on the phone saying to someone he wants out. What is Peter up to? Why is he back in the bay? Does it have something to do with Zoe?

This weeks is Alf's trial. Didn't watch it last night so not sure what is going to happen but think he goes to jail. Watch this space.

Its been a while

Haven''t written an update in a while so thought I had better get typing. I have also noticed that other people haven't update their sites and haven't had any emails from anyone (besides forwards) in a while, not even free texts on free text weekends :(. Don't forget about me I only live in Australia. Get typing and let me know what's happening!

Life has been pretty hectic at the moment with Netball on Monday, Ice Skating on Tuesday, French on Wednesday, Netball on Thursday and drinking with the girls at work on Friday and to make things worse all the best tv programmes are on at the moment with Desperate Housewives on Monday, The OC on Tuesday, McLeods Daughters on Wednesday and Lost on Thursday. I convinced Debra that a video player was an essential item and because I already had one in New Zealand that she should buy one. So we toddled down to Dick Smith and she brought a dvd/video player which means we haven't missed an episode.

Home and Away update

Amanda, Graham and Josh
Morag told Graham about Amanda and Josh. Graham didnt believe it at first but then found proof himself so he confronted Amanda but then suddenly he had a heart attack. A ambulance came and took him away and then he had another one and is on life support in hospital. Amanda and Beth decided to turn off life support but then Josh pointed out that Ámanda didn't get any money if he died within three months of the marriage so Amanda changed her mind but then Beth took her to Court and was about to win until Josh blackmailed the judge and Amanda ended up winning.

Tash and the believers
Tash finally woke up and realised that the believers were no good. She tried to escape but then they locked her in the shed and then she tired to set a fire but the fire engulfed the shed and Jonah saved her but now they have her locked her up in the tent!! She also woke up with numbers tattooed on her foot (but don't know what that was about missed that episode). Anyway she convinced Jonah to let her go and that she wansn't the chosen one) so Jonah let her go and they tired to run away but get caught by the others. What is going to happen?

Beth and Tony move in together because Tony's landlord is selling the house so why not.

Sally is coping with Flynn's death by not letting anyone help and keeping herself busy.

It was the saddest Home and Away ever!!

Last night was the saddest Home and Away ever (well maybe until tonight). Flynn passed away peacefully in his sleep and after half a box of tissues me and Debra finally calmed down. It was the saddest esposide of any weekday soap, it was almost as sad as Dr Green dying on ER.

The funeral is tonight so can imagine it will be another sad one.

Get out of the Water

That was the message to all Gold Coast residents/tourists on the weekend as schools of sharks we congretrating around the shark nets because there were swarms of bait fish. There is noooo way I am getting in the water!!

"SWIMMERS and boogieboarders yesterday defied the dangers to frolic in the surf as hundreds of sharks menaced a school of bait fish less than 100m offshore.The shark alarms sounded at Southport and Narrowneck beaches at first light yesterday as schools of pilchards, tuna and tailor hugged the coastline."

Home and Away

Well the time has finally come, this week, I think Flynn is probally going to die and I think it will be tonight. I am not going to be home but will probally need to get the tissues handy for Debra, its going to be very sad.

Bits and Pieces

Well the boys have left and life has gone back to normal. We just did heaps of touristey (is that a word) things. Don't have any pictures as Stephens laptop died before my cd was finished. May have some in the future.

Netball

Finally, after five months of being here, I think I may be in a netball team. I played a game of netball on Monday night for a team and they are really nice girls who are also my age. They need mid court people which is a bonus and we are in grade 3! I think there might be 5 grades or maybe more. 3 is higher than I am used to but we won! So, this weekend I am going out to Big W to buy my green t-shirt and then shop around to buy my very own black pleated netball skirt. I also have another game tonight with a different team so hope that goes well also. I need the exercise :)

French

I have a few lessons in French now and am finally starting to be able to remember the words and phrases and try and pronounce them. The hardest thing I have found is trying to read the words and pronouce them because you want to sound them out like english words which usually isn't what they are supposed to sound like. I did however get this very helpful book which has the words in french then they write english guides to help you sound them out, if that makes sense!

Home and Away

Haven't really watched home and away in a while because was busy last week, but from what I can gather.

Tasha and Martha

Martha decided to join the believers undercover and stayed at the farm. She then heard someone buried alive, Rebecca, I think, but then she was drugged by Mumma Rose. She was then found by someone and wanted a drug test to prove that she was drugged and not making bad stuff about the believers up but the drug test came back negative, because the believers black mailed Josh who then blackmailed the hospital to say that the tests were negative.

Tasha was also drugged by Jonah who may have taken advantage of her. I think Mumma Rose wants her to get pregnant to Jonah so she can have a "special" baby or something like that.

And that's about all I can tell you at the moment.

The boys have arrived

On Tuesday morning at 7am I made the 45 minute trip to the airport to pick them up. They all made it safe and sound and we then proceeded to drive back through rush hour traffic to our house.

We had breakfast and then went shopping for items that people may/may have not forgotten/left at home/packed at the last minute and forgot to pack.

At 1pm we headed down to the marina to have a ride in a jet boat, go jet skiing and parasailing.

The jet skiing was awesome, there were two people to a jet ski and Stephen had one on his own. As it was pretty windy we all ended up getting saturated but had a great time. At one stage Me and Zac ended up going 81kms, we ended up not falling off but Daniel ended up in the water twice and then Debra and Daniel both fell off the jet ski and had the instructor a bit worried.

After jet skiing we went for a ride on the speed boat around the spit. We saw a nice boat with heavy black smoke bellowing out the back.

We then went parasailing. That was really cool, but by that stage was starting to feel a little sick.

The day was great and jet skiing was the highlight, i definently recommend it.

Oh and did I mention that Zac and Daniel got sunburnt, because they "forgot"to sunblock parts of their bodies. What is it with boys!

Have done a Home and Away update below. But now its time for my own.

Yesterday was Australia day and me and Debra decided to take in some Australian culture and go to a fair. We headed down to see what they had in store for us.

There was dog trialing, sprinting, bull riding (one bull in particular was quite feisty and gave us quite a fright when Debra tried to take a picture), pig racing (mine and Debra’s came last and second to last), various other things and Camel riding. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity and decided to wait in line. After half an hour in the sweltering temperature we finally got our ride and what an experience. Camels are somewhat taller than horses and higher from the ground. Gave us quite a shock when they got up and down, almost felt like I was falling off and defiantly didn’t want to do that. The guy who was operating the camel tours say they do an 18 day trek across the dessert, thanks but no thanks. Don’t think that is really me.

After being in the heat for the morning we decided to head to the theatre. We ended up seeing

Walk the Line with Joaquin (??) Phoenix and Reece Witherspoon.
The movie was about the life of Johnny Cash and June Carter. I thought this movie was great. We didn’t recognize many of the songs but enjoyed it the same. I would definitely recommend it and give it 4/5.

Another pastime we have decided to take up in Australia is French lessons. I found a number for a private French/German tutor and we began our first lesson on Monday night. Before we could even start learning French the tutor made us learn/reminded us of English grammar. I have never been very good at spelling and grammar and neither is Debra. After we established what was a noun, verb and adjective, we finally moved onto French words.

Up until this morning I was real excited about ice skating. We had decided that if we wanted to go further with our ice skating dream, we would need to invest in our own pair of iceskates. So after some investigation, we measured our feet, filled out the forms, took photos and sent them away asap so we could have them by Tuesday, for our next lesson. As is a constant rule practically in Australia, which I am quite frankly starting to get pissy about. Debra can get her skates but I can’t. Basically they have hers in size but for mine they need to send away to get them which is going to cost me an extra $75.00 plus take 4 to 6 weeks. I was most upset this morning, but have since cheered up (thanks mum, aren’t mums great like that) and will look into another place to see if I can get them. But it’s not fair Debra will have her new white shiny skates and I will have to keep using the crappy rentals!

Anyway I am hungry and its time for home.

Home and Away update

First I thought I would start my update with a Home and Away update

The cyclone tore through the town and many of the residents of Summary Bay were in its path.

Kim
Kim was last seen going into a room to take some drugs. Then the next we saw of him was him being dumped outside the hospital in the storm unconscious. Will he survive? Well luckily the new doctor, Rachel Armstrong, came to the rescue. It was touch and go there for a while but she managed to find out what he took, then suddenly he went into cardiac arrest but the power went out. Oh no. But luckily he made it and is trying to change his ways. In fact he is going to counseling with, Dr Rachel Armstrong. Who has taken quite a liking to Kim.

Leah and Dan
Well Leah kicked Dan out. During the cyclone, Dudley, the guy that Dan owed money to for gambling and who he put in jail, escaped and was holding Leah hostage. After about two hours of hostage, Leah is saved by Dan’s brother Peter Baker. Who is coming back to the show as a regular. Leah has also found out she is pregnant but with her marriage practically over, what will she do. Peter still harbors his feelings for Leah and they share a kiss!

Tasha and Robbie
Well Tasha is still at the “farm” with the believers. Robbie goes out to check on her during the storm, she is ok, but won’t go with him. Robbie is distraught and was standing by the river and someone pushes him. Will he survive? Well actually he did and he is fine and insists that someone pushed him but Tasha is being brainwashed by the believers and won’t see sense.

Tasha has told Robbie it’s over and gives back the ring. Poor Robbie. She then kisses, Jonah, one of the believers. He and Mumma Rose have some kind of plan in store for Tasha. What is it though?

Robbie gets a visit from a girl called Rebecca, I think. She used to be a believer ages ago and went to court but decided to drop the case. She heard about Tasha and decided to come and talk to Robbie but then she mysteriously changes her mind, or does she; did one of the believers kill her?

Sally and Flynn
After collapsing at Hayley and Scotts leaving party, Flynn decided it was time. He and Sally are arguing over whether he should take the morphine and Cassie walks in and is most upset and storms out in the cyclone. As the cyclone worsens Cassie is still out there. Rick finds Cassie in a Caravan. I didn’t really see this episode, but Sally gets an electric shock from one of the caravans. But then power lines fall on Cassie and Ricks caravan. But Flynn comes to the rescue with his rubber gloves, rain coast and gumboots and saves them all, after a few shocks himself (personally I am hoping the shocks will have cured his cancer, but doubt it). Flynn decides not to take the morphine.

Morag, Amanda and Josh
Amanda ended up marrying Graham.

Amanda needs money to fund project 56 and asked conned Graham for some money to put together a drama school. He agreed.

Morag is very close to solving out what project 56 is. She downloads something from Josh’s computer but Josh and Amanda find out and attack Morag. She ends up in hospital but can’t prove they attack her. Everyone thinks she has gone nuts with her story about “project 56”. Amanda and Josh ending up getting it on.

I think that is about all the juicy goss that has gone on over the last couple of weeks.

Update

I haven't updated for a while, cause I haven't really done anything big and exciting, but have a few bits and pieces to share.

First up is the most exciting. After about two months or so learning ice skating, I achieved my goal on Tuesday night. All I really wanted to achieve out of the class was to skate backwards and now I can finally do it. And its just so easy. The teacher was like just walk like this with your legs like this and then suddenly we were moving backwards. It was amazing and so easy. We are so excited we plan to go back sometime this week to make sure we can still do it before the lesson on Tuesday. We are even considering buying some boots! Winter Olympics her we come !!

Over the past couple of weeks we have been spending most weekends at the movie theatre. We have $9.00 passes and its a nice cool place to lax out and escape the heat. Most days here at the moment range between 26 - 34 degrees.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
Debra reluctantly came and watched this one with me. I am a Harry Potter fan and have read all the books. Unfortunately, this movie was too different from the books for me and I didn't really like it that much. I would give it 2.5/5.

Just Like Heaven.
I loved this movie. I like Reese Witherspoon as an actress so that got me hooked on going in the first place. But its a nice movie and has laugh out loud bits. Mark Ruffalo is pretty funny, but a bit greek for us (if you know what I mean :) ). 4/5

Rumour Has It.
This movie has Jennifer Aniston and Mark Ruffalo in it. It also has laugh out loud scenes, in fact me and Debra were laughing so loud at one point I am sure people were looking at us. Could wait until DVD to watch it though. 3/5.

Back to work

The guests are all gone and life has got back to normal. Unfortunatley, due to the fact I have only been at my job for two months and don't have any leave, I had to come back to work on the 4th by myself! The office is nice and quiet and its a good chance for me to catch up on work and edit my blog.

Hope everyone had a good Christmas and New Year and look forward to hearing all about it.

New Years

For New Years we all decided to go on a plan b tour. Debra and myself had done one before and it was quite good and Richard said that he and Zac did one last year. So at 4.30 on New Years eve all dressed up we got onto the bus and headed for Surfers Paradise. The tour started at 5pm and the first stop was the Hard Rock Cafe.

We ended up going to only four bars, due to high cover charges here (on a normal weekend some cover charges are $10.00 but apparently on New Years they are like $30.00!). After Hard Rock we went to the Bedroom bar (which apparently actually has beds in it, Debra informed me). There we discovered that we were surrounded in Kiwi's as the majority of the group was from New Zealand.

We then headed for Shooters were we got free pizza and Toni and Lisa meet some "foreign boys" who knew how to dance! We then proceeded to the Shack for a quick drink and dance before heading to the beach for the countdown. I call tell you I have never seen so many people on one beach before. There were people for miles in every which direction you looked. At 12 they had the fireworks (they were quite lame compared to the ones in Gisborne) and then proceeded to the bus stop to wait for a bus.

Me, Debra and Dave ended up missing the bus as it was too packed but Toni and Lisa didn't. They also didn't have keys and we weren't shore if they actually knew the way home. The bus line was growing bigger so we decided to walk home. Whose dumb bloody idea was that! About an hour and a half later (after stopping to get a pie and seeing the temperature was 23 degrees) we finally got home to three people sitting on the grass and very sore feet. New Year's was pretty average, don't think I would do a tour again. Gisborne is definetly the place and the place I have had the most fun.

Lisa and Toni

On the morning of 30 January, Debra got up at some ungodly hour and went to pick up Toni and Lisa from the Gold Coast Airport.

We decided to go to Dreamworld that day because Debra could get 4 friends into Dreamworld for half price because we are action card holders and her birthday is in December. Once we had entered Dreamworld I instantly decided it was a bad idea. The park was packed, its was hot, there we heaps of kids and we had to wait about an hour plus for most of the rides. I don't think I have waited more than 15 minutes (excluding screamworld) for a ride. After we got onto the giant drop. I decided to go on a nice relaxing boat ride whilst Debra, Toni and Lisa went on the rapid ride.

We also saw a celebrity, well not really a big one, New Zealander's might not know yet. But we swear we saw Anne from the latest series of Australian Idol. I wanted to take a picture to prove it, but didn't think that really was appropriate. She is a kiwi living here, we really wanted her to win.

Richard and Dave

The first of our guests arrived on the night of 27 December at the train station, only an hour late. As they thought they needed to change trains, from the pretty much express train from Brisbane to the Gold Coast, therefore had to wait for the next train to come. But they eventually made it.

The next day we all decided to head for the beach. We went down to Surfers Paradise and hung out there. Debra was in charge of sunblocking everyones back and you were in charge of sunblocking the rest of yourself. Me and Debra didn't get burnt. But check out typical "man" sunblocking. Just a smooch on the front and she'll be right!

During the time they were here was also headed down to Surfer's to watch a beach cinema movie /documentary about surfing, one of the most borist movies I have ever seen. After the movie we came home, Debra went to work but Richard, Dave and myself cranked up the singstar and contiued to play into the wee hours (4am).


The next night we decided to head down the road to the broad water and have a bbq. We packed up our stuff and our 20 cent coins. We got the bbq area to find that the bbq's were free. How fantastic is that. That would never happen in New Zealand. So we cranked it up and had a lovely meal over looking the broadwater on a clear night. Something we will have to do with the next guests that arrive.

Christmas

After finally finishing work at 3pm on 23 December 2006 (we were supposed to finish at 12pm but had to schmooze with clients. I headed off home for a few days of rest, relaxation and Christmas before the guests arrived.

My first text message on Christmas morning was at 4.30 (cheers Alie), followed by Tania at 5.30 and then my mother. Now I don’t mind text message but 4.30 on Christmas morning. I had been so excited about Christmas that I had finally gotten to sleep at 12!

This Christmas was more exciting than other Christmas’ because for the first year since I have been a grown up. I didn’t know what my presents were going to be. My mum called and I ran in to wake Debra up and went through the process of opening gifts. I got heaps of cool things and most events got documented on the camera to show my family. Thanks to everyone who sent us presents and christmas cards. It made Christmas more bearable being away from home. After opening presents was over we got ready to go and have Christmas lunch.

Thinking lunch began at 11am we bowled down to Surfers RSL and went it to find out two disappointing things: 1. It actually started around 11.30 – 11.45 2. They didn’t have daiquiris. We decided to go and see Santa at the beach and hang around until it was time.

The food was really good but not that organised. It was a smorgasbord with crabs, mussels, salads, meats, etc. But that thing was there were about 100 people and only one place to get the meal therefore, if you weren’t lucky like us, and got up early you had to wait in line for about 30 minutes just to get your meal and the bar was understaffed so you had to wait about 15 minutes to get a drink. As I said fortunately for us we were quite close to the table and got in early but when dessert came around had to wait in the line to later find out for dessert you had to wait in a different line and that when people were getting tired of waiting and had finished there drink our table looked like a good place to dump empty glasses. So overall the food was pretty good and Debra polished off some Pavalova we didn’t eat as much as we would have liked because the line was to long and when we went down to the beach it was overcast and got advised to leave due to a storm that was on the way!

Anyways, still had a pretty good Christmas but still think home is the place to be especially when my sister sent me pictures of the food they had. It looked better than anything I could have had. Mum’s gravy is the best!

Debra's Birthday

On Saturday it was Debra’s 23rd Birthday so we all decided to go to Dreamworld for the day. After eating seafood and having daiquiris the night before I thought best to go easy and not do too many rides. So we started on the wipeout and moved from there. We decided it was getting a bit hot so we ventured towards the water rides. The first one being the rapid river ride, the other guys were saying how last time they rode this ride they didn’t get wet at all. This didn’t match up with mine and Debra’s recollection of the ride and by the time we were finished Tobi, Che, Debra, Kevin and me were saturated! Rachel and Cam went in a different boat and again didn’t seem to get wet.

We then thought well we are wet already lets go on the log flume ride. Rach and Tobi dodged the waves as we went down the ramp, again me and Kevin got saturated. It was so hot though and had been raining also, so decides from the wet undies we were doing alright. We ended up going on the giant drop three times in a row as the line was so short it was fantastic!!

Towards the end of the day I had decided that I had reached my limit and was prepared to take on the photographer role. Debra had decided to join me, as she also had enough. So as I was taking photos of Tobi and Che on the Wipeout Rach, Cam and Kevin were on the The Claw. Debra decided to push the limit and go on one more ride. That is a decision she ended up regretting. It wasn’t her that was sick but some little 10 year old boy throwing up what looked to be hotdogs or some other nasty orange spew onto her white skirt and between her toes. Lucky it was the end of the day!

We had a fantastic dinner and even got free bread rolls. Definitely somewhere we would bring guests when they come to stay.

After dinner we headed back to our house for a spot of singstar and ended up playing that till the wee hours of the morning. Lucky the neighbors had moved out!!

After an action packed day on Saturday we decided to lay low on Sunday and went down to the beach. As we were heading into the water I saw this dark object with a firm swimming in the waves, my instant reaction was SHARK!!, which I said quietly (as I didn’t want to cause a commotion) and was ready to bolt back to the beach when I quickly realised it was just a dolphin. I call tell you I almost had a heart attack!!

Anyways, its back to normal life now and catching up on much missed sleep!! Till the next lot come!

What a week!!

This past week has gone in a whirl. We have been hanging out with Rachel, Cameron, Tobi and Che and have been so busy. Its really hard trying to keep up with people on holiday. I am looking forward to resting this week before the next lot come.

On Tuesday night we took them all to our ice skating lesson. Fortunately for them the rink wasn't like a lake like the week before. I think they each managed to fall over once as did me and Debra but had a good time all the same and even managed how to learn how to stop, I think!

On Thursday night we went around to their motel again for a bbq. We cooked so much food and had a good night. It great hanging out with friends again.

On Friday night I had my work Christmas do. We dressed up and went to a swanky seafood restaurant at Marina Mirage. Now for all of you not in the know, “Marina Mirage” is where all the upper class posh people hang out, very swanky. Donald Trump was staying at a motel along there not long ago. We ended up getting heaps of seafood platters. I was feeling really tired and not in the mood so didn’t drink that much or eat to much because I also knew that I had to go to Dreamworld the next day and drink on Saturday night.

We have some presents

Desperate Housewives and Singstar

The last few weekends have been dedicated to getting up to date with the first season of desperate housewives. As unfortunately for us we left New Zealand half way through and Australia had already screened the first season. But we watched all 23 episodes and very excited about the second season.



On Sunday, we meet up with Cameron, Rachel, Toby and his sister Che. We went swimming in their pool and had lunch at Pacific Fair. As the afternoon progressed and everyone got a little sick of playing poker we decided to head over to our house and get some dinner and play singstar. We piled four people in the back and me and Debra in the front. Looking every which way for a cop on the way home cause as well as being overloaded we have been over here for three months and our licenses have expired. We have got the road code book, buts its as thick as and haven't really had time (or be botheredness) to study the road rules.

We sang to our hearts content and maybe drank a bit to much for a Sunday night, but had a good time and will be doing it again on Saturday as its Debra's birthday and she turns 23!

I got an email from Dreamworld today and me and Debra are going to Screamworld tomorrow night. It has all the dreamworld rides completely in the dark and entertainment.

Yah, its Friday

Apart from the fact it the last day of the working week. I am highly exicted its Friday because today the rental people have answered our prayers and brought our AIR CONDITIONER in. I plugged it in and tested it out at lunchtime and hopefully by the time I get home later on, our house will be a cool oasis. Also along with the airconditioner came a much needed kitchen applicance the microwave. No more takeouts if I forget to get the meat out of the freezer and reheating will be so much easier.

We put up our Christmas tree on Monday night. Doesn’t it look pretty? All we need is some presents to put under it!

On Tuesday night me and Debra went on our weekly ice skating adventure. We turned up at the ice rink to find that instead of clear, nice, smooth, easy skating ice there was about a 2cm thick layer of water on top of the ice. Apparently the power went out a couple of times over the last couple of days and melted the ice. So we skated every so carefully as falling over would mean that our clothes would be drenched as well as coming home with a few bruises and bumps. But as the classes go on, we are starting to do more difficult stuff therefore falling over was inevitable. Debra was the first one to hit the ground front first and saturated her front and then she fell over again on her arse. She was drenched and could literally squeeze water out of her pants. The lesson was almost over and I wasn’t getting one of the moves and was getting rather frustrated and you know when you are so frustrated cause you can’t do it and other people are like try this, try that, and its just makes your more frustrated! Anyway so I tried in on the other leg to see if it was easier but then I fell face first and slid into a big pile of water. You know its time to stop when you are covered in water and only have yourself to be mad at. We are learning cool things though, we have learnt how to skate on one foot, drag a leg behind whilst skating on one foot, ski skate, and are in the process of learning how to spin and do cross over things with our legs.

Another week in Australia

This week was a little more eventful that last weekend. On Thursday and Friday night we went and saw Louise and Simon who were on the Gold Coast for a Holiday. They were staying at the Bel Air resort. We went over there to have a bbq and to use their facilities (ie. spa and pool). Unfortunately the weather had been a little chilly during the week so the outside pool wasn’t so warm but the inside one was. But I don’t know about the spas in Australia they all seem to be a bit chilly. After a swim on Friday night we decided to crank out the ole singstar and proceeded to sing our hearts out. After about an hour of singing we felt it was time and called up Kim to see what she was doing and to dedicate Shannon Noll to hear. She was most impressed I am sure.

The rest of the weekend was spent basically complaining about how damm hot it was. I think it was the hottest it has been, so hot in fact you can’t even sleep and end up dehydrated in the morning. Last night I ended up spraying myself with a water bottle just so I could sleep. We also went down to the broadwater by our house. They have a nice little area there that they have netted off so that the sharks don’t come in and we dipped down there for a few swims.

Cam and Rachel and their friends are due to be here tonight, we have brought a bbq pack and will be calling them asap to see if they want us to visit and ask if we can use their facilities.

I have had a few requests to write my address again to send Christmas cards, etc to so here it is
